about

the honest wallet.

most card sites rank cards by who pays them the most. pointlss ranks them by what they're worth to you: your spend, your goals, the cards already in your wallet. it's independent, built in canada, and covers both sides of the border.

why we built it

points people keep spreadsheets: which card earns what, which annual fee is coming up, which welcome bonus still needs $1,400 of spend by december. the math gets messy fast, especially with cards in two countries and two currencies.

pointlss does that math for you and gives you a straight answer: keep it, cut it, downgrade it, or wait. and when a new card makes sense, it tells you how much it's actually worth in year one and after.

what we promise

  • no paid rankings. no issuer can pay to move a card up. if we ever add referral links, they'll be labelled and they won't change the order.
  • no card numbers, no bank logins. we only need which card you have and roughly how you spend.
  • every number shows its receipts. each card shows when it was last checked and where the data came from.
  • your data stays yours. export it or delete it any time. see the privacy policy.

how we rank cards

point values. every program starts with a conservative value per point (aeroplan around 2¢, bonvoy around 0.7 us¢) that you can change in settings. bank points like amex membership rewards take the best value among the programs they transfer to. points that can't reach your goals count at half.

your spend. your monthly spend is split across your cards, each purchase going to the card that earns the most for it, with caps respected. us cards used in canada (and the reverse) pay their fx fee plus what it costs you to pay a bill in the other currency.

keep or cut. each card's value is your wallet with it minus your wallet without it, after its next annual fee (including announced fee changes). perks you share across cards, like a free checked bag, only count once.

next card. first-year value is the welcome bonus you can realistically hit, plus what the card adds to your wallet, minus its first-year fee. we check issuer rules like chase 5/24 and amex's once-per-card bonus policy.

the ai assistant explains these numbers in plain language. it doesn't make them up: it only sees the figures our engine computed.

where card data comes from

an automated agent checks the catalog every day against issuer websites and established points publications. updates only go live if they cite pages it actually read and pass sanity checks (a big fee jump, for example, needs two independent sources). every change is logged on the offers page. offers change without notice, so always confirm on the issuer's site before you apply.
